| Oh wow, yeah, so I haven't posted in a really, really, really long time. Ok, so I'm going to be better...well, at least I will TRY to be better.
Ok, the biggest news is the new addition to the Clark family - Jack! For those that have not heard, Michael and I got a new Husky puppy (thank you Sniders!) and he's the cutest thing in the world. He likes to eat pine cones and chew on anything and everything you put in front of his face. He also likes to go for runs. Don't tell Michael this, but I'm pretty sure Jack could outrun Michael. Anyway, Jack has been a lot of fun and I love him to death. I'll try to get some pictures of him up soon.
Let's see...what else is going on. Oh, F.I.T. (females in training) has been awesome! We are going to be the best in shape girls in the youth group! So far we have done "Sweating to the Oldies" with Richard Simmons and "Tae-Bo" with Billy Blanks. These guys are hard core. Ok, I'm going to take a poll. Who's a better workout guru? Richard Simmons or Billy Blanks? Let me know what you think. That's a toughy. There was this one time me and my roommates dressed up as Richard Simmons for Halloween. You'll have to ask me about that one...
Anyway, I hope everybody is doing well and that people actually still check my xanga even though I haven't posted in 734061394 years! Have a great day!
| Well, I just want to begin by saying that our youth group has a TON of talented people! I have had the opportunity to go to 3 Christmas concerts/plays over the last week and they were awesome! I have seen everything from outstanding soloist to cute little sugarplums (you know who you are ). You guys are amazing! Speaking of talent (or lack there of in my case...) if you guys weren't at our youth Christmas dinner, you really missed out - Phil and I sang "Here Comes Santa Claus" while Jeremy danced around in a Santa suit. Ok, I'm going to be honest with y'all - Katie really doesn't have any vocal talent. There, I said it. And I'm not one of those people that says that just to get people to say, "Oh Katie, you DO have vocal talent - you have the best voice ever!" because I'm fully aware that's not the case! Anyway, needless to say I was a little nervous, but it went fine. Luckily Phil was singing and the band was playing, so it kind of drowned me out, which I'm fully ok with (thanks guys). Not to mention I kept the microphone far, far away from my mouth...
I hope everybody is doing great. For those of you taking finals - hang in there, it's almost over. Make sure to sleep sometime. Sleep is good. My last semester at OC I had 9 hours of sleep over 3 days during finals week. I didn't do so great in my immunology class (when I say not so great, I mean TERRIBLE). It's a good thing immunology is not important in youth ministry. But if you ever have any questions on T or B cells, anitgen/antibody reactions, or immunoglobulins, or any of that fun stuff, I'm your girl! Have a good one!
| First of all I just want to say congrats the the Bulldogs for the win over the Huskies last night! Being an ex-husky, you have no idea how hard it was for me to sit on the Memorial side and actually clap for Memorial! I did try to split my "cheering" though. During the girls game, I clapped everytime North scored because I knew all of the girls (I had 9th grade girls b-ball at North last year) and I clapped everytime that Barrie Jo scored. During the guys game, I would say I was definitely a Bulldog fan. I knew 3 of the starters for Memorial and only a couple of kids total from North. At half-time of the boys game, I went over to the North side to talk to Rachel and saw some of my kids I had in class last year. One said, "Coach Allen! Where have you disappeared to?" At least she noticed I was gone because one said to me, "Miss Allen, where is your classroom this year? I can't find it anywhere!". I had a good time at the game, but I felt like such a traitor!
Ok girls, I have a story for you. Boys, you might want to stop reading because I'm fixing to share a story that will make the girls say, "ahhh, how sweet!" You guys just wouldn't appreciate it. Anyway, yesterday was Michael and mine's "1 month anniversary". Yay! We've been married a whole month now! Anyway, I had to go to the big people office at church and when I came back, my husband had brought me a poinsetta (I had said I wanted one because I have never had one and it puts me in the Christmas spirit) with a very nice card! Everyone will have to see it at church tonight. It was very sweet of him and I loved it! Girls, don't put up with boys that don't treat you like the wonderful princesses you are!! You all deserve the very best! See boys, I told you to stop reading, but it was just too tempting not to, wasn't it? Don't say I didn't try to warn you about the girlieness of this last paragraph. Speaking of girlieness, everyone come see my new pink office! Have a great day and see you all tonight at church!
| Wow, I didn't realize that people actually read my xanga! Thanks for all the comments - I loved them! Well, this is my second entry in a week (hold your applause please.) It seems as though I'm getting pretty good at this whole xanga thing.
I had a great Thanksgiving with my family. I loved all the eating and football! I must admit, my Longhorns had me a little scared - they just could not put the game away against A&M!!! My husband had a good time laughing at me and telling me how my team was going to lose. So I told him (lovingly, of course) to buzz off and not to mess with me when my team was playing football! I just love college football. So pretty much all my Longhorns have to do now is beat Colorado in the Big 12 Championship in order to go to the National Championship. I'm not worried though. Vince Young for Heisman!!!
The Clark family put up their very first Christmas tree last night and it was so exciting! My wonderful mother-in-law asked us if we wanted her to send a Christmas tree and decorations to us since we have no Christmas stuff at all. So after the OU game on Friday, my father-in-law brought us the stuff. I thought it was just going to be the tree and a couple of other decorations, but we had a ginormous tree and like 7 more boxes of stuff to decorate with! I love my mother-in-law! Christmas is my favorite holiday and I love decorating! Chase (Michael and my's adopted son) helped us put up the tree. He was a good sport about it, even when he got stuck under the tree. Like I said, that thing is ginormous! Michael and I are planning on putting lights on our house (which I have never done before.) Hopefully we won't get carried away and turn into the Griswald's on National Lapoon's Christmas Vacation. I would hate to electricute a cat or something...
| Well, this is not only my first entry in a long time, but my first entry as KATIE CLARK!! Yay! I got married to the greatest guy in the world on Ocotber 29, 2005 and I couldn't be happier! Things are going great. We get to spend our first Thanksgiving together as a married couple this year. We are going to Texas to see my family (sorry Myra!). Michael is in for a little treat - he's about to find out my family is crazy during the holidays! First of all, we have two Thanksgivings - one with my Mom and one with my Dad. My Mom's Thanksgiving consists of going to a big family reunion of people I barely know that I see once a year -aunt's, great uncle's, cousins, second cousins twice removed - the whole 9 yards. All the parents love to brag about their kids. We've heard it all folks, from how our cousin got a full ride to West Point and how he's the best trombone player in their band to how our other cousin will be dancing at the Super Bowl. It is loads of fun. (No offense Mom, I really do love our family, I promise! My Dad's Thanksgiving is at my Nannie's and it's just my aunts, uncles, and cousins. They usually have a great time making fun of me, but they will have to come up with a different question than, "Are you ever going to get married, Katie?" Hope everybody has a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'll leave you with a funny story...A week or two ago I was getting ready to leave my house. My Jeepster lives in the garage, so I started to back her out when I heard a huge "CRUNCH". I slammed on the brakes and looked around, terrified of what I might have hit. I didn't see a thing, so I put my car in park and get out the evalutate the situation, only to see the garage door sitting on top of my jeep!!! We have an old garage door, so it doesn't have one of those safety sensors. I guess what happened was as i was pulling out of the garage, I moved the garage door opener out of the cup holder and must have pushed the button. This wouldn't be such a big deal, but the garage door opener never, I repeat NEVER goes anywhere after the first push on the button. I usually have to push it at least 15 times before it goes up, but apparently all I had to do this time was barely graze the button for it to come crashing down on my car!! So after I see the garage door sitting on my jeep, I panic and call Michael and tell him, "michaelyouhavetoturnaroundandhelpmeijustputthegaragedoordownonthejeep!" My loving husband turns his car around and comes home only to find his frantic wife standing in the driveway with a garage door on her jeep. Michael got of the car and fixed everything. So after all is said and done and I'm trying to put the garage door down AFTER my jeep is safely out of the way, I have to push the button 12 times to get the garage door to go down! | | |
